Call for data interoperability use cases in Learning Analytics

August 11, 2016 by Megan Bowe Leave a Comment (0)

In order for data interoperability to be useful, we need to look at the why and how from many different perspectives. This means use cases. Lots of use cases from lots of different people. The good news is, many people out there care. They care enough to start driving this effort in hopes of a better data ecosystem. The ISO Learning Analytics Interoperability working group is one set of just those people, the best kind of people!

There is an ISO subcommittee’s working group on Learning Analytics Interoperability. This group works within JTC1/SC36 which is focused on information technology for learning, education and training. DISC has been involved in meetings with this working group, board member, Kirsty Kitto attended a recent meeting in Edinburgh that coincided with LAK’16.

This group put a call out asking for people across the learning analytics world to submit use cases on data interoperability for learning analytics. This information will be invaluable to all parties involved, but to xAPI folks this will be particularly useful as vocabulary and profiles mature. We strongly encourage you to participate by completing template and emailing it to the contact on the cover page of the template.

The use case template can be downloaded here: Use Case Template for Data Interoperability-to JTC1.SC36.WG8

Happy use casing!
