Projects

DISC facilitates constructive and open projects as the means for stakeholders in data exchange to work together.

xAPI Profile Server Requirements

The xAPI profile server has very basic requirements documented in the profile specification. The profile server is also critical to supporting Learning Record Provider Professionals (see below). DISC conducted a research effort across government, industry and academia. This research identified what a profile server should do in order to serve the needs of the community. This research was documented in a report and will be made available to the public pending approval.

xAPI Learning Record Provider Professional Certification Recommendations (LRPPs)

DISC completed a research and task analysis effort to define a body of knowledge for people who work with Learning Record Providers. This body of knowledge could be the basis for certification of professionals who design learning experiences with Learning Record Providers. This work is in the process of being published and will be made available when the process concludes.

xAPI Profiles

DISC is collaborating with the Advanced Distributed Learning (ADL) initiative on a major effort to specify an common approach to xAPI Profiles and supporting services. More information on the effort is here.

xAPI Conformance Requirements for Learning Record Stores (LRSs)

DISC completed its initial work on 30 September 2016. This document is now maintained on GitHub: https://github.com/adlnet/xapi-lrs-conformance-requirements

An accessible, printer-ready and reader-friendly version of this same document is also available as a gitbook here: https://adl.gitbooks.io/xapi-lrs-conformance-requirements/content/

xAPI Certification Program Recommendations

DISC completed its research informing recommendations on a program to certify xAPI conformance of Learning Record Store functionality, and an initial draft of the recommendations was delivered to ADL on 16 December 2016.

This document is currently in review. When finished, pending ADL’s approval, it will be made public.
